Care in pregnancy

Pregnancy should be a joyous and happy time for a new mother. For many women, however, this is not the case. The changes that occur in the body to accommodate the growing foetus can be quite distressing. Hormonal changes affect the pelvic ligaments causing increased laxity (stretching) and the abdominal organs become squashed as space lessens with increased foetal dimensions. Pelvic instability must be dealt with in order for a natural delivery to take place in addition to treating the mothers low back pain. SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction) can also be a sequelae of pelvic instability. The pelvic outlet is narrowed in an unstable pelvis and passage of babies head can be obstructed, potentially leading to an assisted delivery such as forceps or C-section.

Morning sickness is a serious problem in some cases with hospital admissions on the up. This can be addressed with CMRT treatment and dietary advice. Morning sickness is the same physiology as hangover and can be addressed as such.

Post-natal depression is sometimes a problem after the birth and is seen in mothers with Adrenal fatigue, a consequence of providing adrenal functions for the baby as well as mother during pregnancy.

SOT Chiropractic has some amazing techniques to deal with all these conditions.
